E Walters UK is a market leader in the manufacture of quality trousers, jeans, shorts and skirts for the European retail market. From its headquarters in Leominster, Herefordshire and with manufacturing bases in Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and South Asia, manufacturing capacity is more than 100,000 garments per week. In addition its UK logistics facilities enable it to handle over 30,000 garments per day.
Manufacturing and moving these numbers of garments every week meant that a tremendous number of transactions needed to be recorded. This, in turn, led to major headaches with bank reconciliations. Management Accountant Phil Partridge therefore turned to Access Accounting to provide the solution with its powerful bank reconciliation routine. “We reconcile every day because of the sheer volume of transactions. We have 2 to 3 bank accounts to reconcile daily,” he said. “We go into Access Accounts CashBook and then Reconcile. When you key in the date it displays a superb feature which allows you to group together all the details with the date. I personally like to see every transaction on display and Access Accounts provides this facility. I just tick everything off and click on reconcile to produce a statement report that resembles a copy of our bank statement. I download the bank figures every day and by 10 a.m. the bank figure is reconciled. I don’t think that happens in many companies who don’t have Access Accounts!”
