J F Nott was one of the first companies to introduce the open-plan concept into UK offices.

Set up in 1924 as a shopfitting business its core values remain traditional craftsmanship and competitive pricing. It remains one of the most famous and respected names in the office furniture world.

J F Nott contacted Access Accounting when it looked for an improvement in its Sales Ledger reporting. “Access’ Sales Ledger has improved our efficiency in a number of ways.

We need to know if our customers are behind on payments and with Access we can see if a customer’s payment record is up to date, while they are actually on the telephone to us, and again prior to releasing orders. Before Access it used to take forever to check a customers credit status,” said Accounts Manager Paul Spurgeon.

“On the sales side we need a comprehensive list of stock products available. With Access we are able to put an analysis code on an individual item of stock. Now we just pick a stock product by the analysis code and we don’t have to code everything again. Also when entering a sales order for someone on the phone and we find they are not an existing customer we can set them up as a new customer ‘on the fly’ at the same time which no other software I’ve seen can do.”
