Star had many demands for the Sales Ledger of whatever accounts system it was to use. “As part of the construction industry our Sales Ledger is never straightforward. We have to issue applications for payment and we have to deduct retentions. For example we do a lot of work for new house builders and they hold a retention on our money because the council won’t adopt a new road until it’s perfect. A major building company could be holding on to £20,000 of our money or more, per job, and we need to keep track of it. We need to stay on top of the paper mountain and Access enables us to print a full status report or just detail the retention held. This has allowed us to re-coup the money we spent on the software virtually straight away and save two days of work time a week.”
