ACA qualification transition completed

The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is this month celebrating a successful transition towards an updated ACA professional examination system.

Tests in June - of which results have just been announced - saw the last of the 2004 ACA scheme run parallel with a new qualification system introduced in September last year.

Tipped as a more flexible alternative, the new syllabus also requires increased technical knowledge and skills to meet workplace demands.

Mark Protherough, head of operations and director of ICAEW learning and professional development, says: "We're pleased to have completed the transition to the ACA structure introduced last year without any major problems."

He adds the move has been "demanding on a budgetary and organisational level" but is confident the new system will pay off with a higher standard of education.
