The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) has published an anti-fraud guide aimed at helping organisations avoid the damaging consequences of the offence.
Entitled Actions to Counter Fraud and Corruption, the guide has been produced jointly with the NHS Counter Fraud and Security Management Service as well as the Audit Commission.
The free guide, which has been produced by professionals for professionals, covers subjects including how businesses can correctly identify fraud risks and how they can adopt strategies to help them avoid and tackle the problem.
CIPFA chief executive Steve Freer said: "The ongoing battle against fraud and corruption can only be won if organisations have in place robust strategies and frameworks. Taking actions to proactively stop fraud occurring in the first place is a far better remedy than merely managing the risk."
The publication of the guide precedes CIPFA's Better Governance Forum conference to be held on October 19th with the aim of assisting practitioners develop their anti-fraud strategies and provide visitors with a high quality learning experience.
