Small businesses are increasingly demanding "enterprise-grade technologies" rather than scaled-down solutions, according to an expert.
An article in Computing SA claims that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are becoming more demanding about the levels of functionality and integration their accounting software provides.
Written by Steven Cohen, managing director of Softline Pastel, the article suggests that smaller firms want financial systems that have been packaged specifically for their needs and improve efficiencies.
"Today accounting solutions offer greater scope for companies to be more creative about how they manage their business by guiding them towards customer relationship management (CRM), business intelligence (BI) and providing mobile access to information to their employees," he stated.
SMEs can benefit substantially from the capabilities provided by SME accounting software and management reporting software, with many solutions now including additional functionality such as CRM, human resources and payroll software capabilities.
Small businesses often use technology to streamline processes, conduct a business health check or cut costs.
