Business and accounting software developer, Access Accounting, has raised £5600 for Cancer Research UK as part of its 2006 ‘Charity of the Year’ campaign. The Colchester-based company has donated a staggering £26,600 to charities since it started the campaigns in 2000.
Staff at Access Accounting organised numerous activities to raise funds for the cancer charity. These ranged from raffles, sweepstakes, and the sale of cards and jewellery through to staff donating their last working hour of 2006, taking part in the Race for Life and a brave individual taking up the challenge of wearing a bright orange Lederhosen outfit.
John Beech, MD for Access Accounting, commented, "There are so many great causes out there but most people know someone who has been affected by cancer. This was the main reason we choose Cancer Research UK as our ‘Charity of the Year’.
"Everyone had lots of ideas about how we could raise funds and it is thanks to our staff and social committee that those ideas were put into practice. They have done a fantastic job and are a credit to Access Accounting," he continued.
Elizabeth Rose, a committee member of the Colchester branch for Cancer Research UK said, "I never cease to be amazed by the generosity of the local community - thanks go to the staff at Access Accounting for working so hard throughout the year to raise funds for our charity. Such donations help us to carry out the research required to improve our understanding of cancer and find out how to prevent, diagnose and treat this illness."
Access Accounting will shortly be announcing its ‘Charity of the Year’ for 2007, along with a number of other community initiatives.
